Moon Executive Search is delighted to be working with SWIG Ltd to identify two new Non-Executive Directors for their board.

For more than 30 years, SWIG has provided debt finance (up to £250,000) to micro and small businesses throughout the greater southwest. This is true gap funding as most banks do not operate small loans in the SME sector. SWIG operates from offices in Truro and Bristol with front line business development managers spread throughout the region. SWIG measures success by economic and social impact as well as financial sustainability. SWIG lends its own funds at risk and has fee-based arrangements to manage external Funds, having headline contracts with Start-Up Loans Company and British Business Bank.

SWIG is now seeking two new board members to join the board of SWIG Ltd. These persons will be both members and directors. In addition to board responsibilities to ensure good governance and a successful business, the board is particularly engaged with overseeing financial performance, supporting growth, consideration of new strategic directions/projects, and provides scrutiny of business plans, budgets and other key operational plans. NEDs are also expected to contribute to the promotion and positioning of the organisation with external stakeholders, working in a collaborative manner.

In recruiting two new NEDs,

  • SWIG is particularly interested in individuals with first-hand experience in SME business ownership and management; marketing and business development; financial broker networks; fintech; business transformation/growth and digital innovation - ideally as a previous board (NED or Executive) member.
  • As one of the new NEDs will also join the board of the main operational subsidiary, SWIG Finance, an understanding of business lending, fund management; finance literacy; compliance and regulation; HR and organisation design is highly desirable.Further, one of the new NEDs should aspire to step into the SWIG Ltd Chair role as a planned succession in early 2026. Extensive board experience is required for this position.

These positions offer the successful individuals the opportunity to play a leading role in an ambitious, impact orientated and growing not-for-profit financial organisation, which in turn supports the vibrant micro/SME sector.
