About the company

We are presently recruiting for an Information Management and Governance Officer for our client who regulates within Higher Education within the UK and protects the interests of students.We are seeking an experienced individual to focus on ensuring that the organisation has robust Information Governance and Management, policies and supporting procedures in place which contributes to the management of information in accordance with legislation and internal policies. You will assist in improving the management of knowledge across the organisation ensuring they are complying with Information Rights and Data Protection legislation.

Working with the Governance Team, the post holder will be required to plan, develop, manage and deliver the information management and governance programme for both core mission and administrative records. This will require engagement with stakeholders to align policies and processes with ongoing developments across the organisation and ensure that staff are knowledgeable about information management and governance principles.

This is a fixed term role for 6 months and you will be working alongside two officers within the Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) team, whilst also supporting the Head of KIM. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advising on data protection, FOI, records management and information security.
  • Ensuring the organisation has robust information governance and management policies and supporting procedures in place.
  • Improving the management of information in accordance with legislation and internal policies.
  • Ensuring the organisation complies with Information Rights and Data Protection legislation.
  • Disseminate and embed best practice within the organisation.
  • Managing FOI requests and overseeing and responding in accordance with legislative requirements.
  • Management of data, DPIA’s, data access requests and the rights of data subjects in accordance with legislative requirements.
  • Formulating and implementing policies and procedures for all record-keeping, adhering to legislative requirements for both paper and electronic records.
  • Advising and guiding on information governance issues, trends and developments.
  • Supporting the work of the Knowledge and Information Governance team and wider organisation.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Demonstrable experience of working within a KIM or information rights role and / or suitably qualified is essential.
  • Experience of FOI, SAR’s and DPIA’s.
  • Understanding of how information management and governance should develop in the context of its work.
  • Good strategic awareness of the connections between various information access and management legislations.
  • An ability to disseminate and embed best practice in information management and governance within an organisation.
  • Experience of setting up / managing records management systems and processes.
  • Experience of managing information within a SharePoint environment.
  • Confident in engaging with a wide range of people including at a senior level and have strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate specialist knowledge to non-specialists.
