Business Development Manager - Financial Services & Banking

This exciting opportunity places you at the heart of the firm's award-winning Financial Services and Banking Group, where you will play a pivotal role in bringing their exceptional offerings to market. They are market leader and your role will help them maintain that position and expand.

Working closely with the Senior Business Development Manager for Financial Services and the Head of the Banking Group, you will focus on driving revenue growth and enhancing their reputation in these sectors. You’ll be supported by BD Executives and collaborate with the wider Marketing and Business Development team to expand the outstanding client base.

Key Responsibilities

Business Planning & Strategy:

  • Develop and implement strategic business and marketing plans for the Banking Group, aligned with the firm’s overall sector strategy.
  • Foster strong relationships with key clients, supporting Client Relationship Partners to manage client panels and frameworks, with a focus on high-priority clients.
  • Develop and manage an annual BD budget, ensuring maximum ROI while tracking progress and meeting objectives.

Marketing & Communications:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to plan and execute key sales and marketing initiatives.
  • Lead thought leadership campaigns, position the firm as experts in the market, and create clear, market-focused client updates.
  • Increase visibility through PR, events (virtual and in-person), speaking opportunities, and compelling marketing materials.
  • Work on award submissions and directory entries, while leveraging digital channels like the website and social media to promote sector services.

Sales & Business Development:

  • Lead the development of compelling proposals and bids, supported by the Bids team.
  • Manage a pipeline of new business leads, generate reports on BD/sales activities, and actively engage with CRM tools to target campaigns effectively.
  • Build a strong network of intermediaries, prospects, and clients to drive business and support relationship-building efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Legal Tech team to develop and promote innovative legal and near-legal products for relevant sectors.

Team Collaboration:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, working closely with partners and other business teams across our UK offices and international alliances to support the firm’s ambitious growth plans.

Skills & Experience:

  • Graduate or equivalent, with experience in business development/marketing within professional services.
  • Relevant financial services knowledge is advantageous.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to gain respect and build credibility quickly, especially with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to understand clients’ business issues.
  • Experience with marketing technologies is a plus.
