Job Title: Deputy Nursery Manager

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Our well-established nursery in Portishead is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Deputy Nursery Manager to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of young children in a nurturing and stimulating environment.

As Deputy Nursery Leader, you will work closely with the Nursery Leader to ensure the highest standards of care, learning and development are delivered daily. You’ll be a positive role model for the team, helping to nurture a supportive and collaborative culture where both children and staff thrive.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead and support a dedicated team in creating a stimulating, safe, and nurturing environment for all children.
  • Implement and oversee a child-led, enriching curriculum in line with the EYFS framework.
  • Take on operational responsibilities in the absence of the Nursery Leader.
  • Carry out staff supervision, support professional development, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals.
  • Support the recruitment, induction, and ongoing mentoring of new team members.
  • Play an active role in safeguarding and be confident in identifying and addressing concerns appropriately.
  • Ensure accurate and effective observation, planning, and assessment for key children.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Level 4 or above in Early Years Education or a related field (essential)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ leadership or senior practitioner experience in an early years setting (preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding, and Ofsted requirements
  • A natural leader with the ability to inspire, motivate and support others
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage time and priorities effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A calm, empathetic, and flexible approach to leadership and problem-solving
  • Passion for high-quality early education and a genuine commitment to children’s development.
