Home to School Travel Officer

Duration: Initially 4 months
Hours: 37 hours per week (shifts on an adhoc basis)
Rate: 22 umbrella an hour (17.70 PAYE an hour)

Bristol City Council are looking for a Travel Officer to join their Home to School Travel Team. The Home to School Travel Team oversee the whole travel process from application and eligibility to the provision of travel solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the escorts who work remotely
  • Provide a high-quality specialist travel provision for the Home to School travel service, taking direct responsibility for a designated number of schools
  • Be a point of contact for the service and ensure advice and support is available to parents, school staff and escorts
  • Ensure that all details of route, cost and child are properly recorded on the software to enable accurate information for forecasting and planning
Requirements:
  • Experience of travel planning, special educational needs and disabilities, and risk assessments
  • Good communication skills to liaise with parents and carers, schools, transport contractors and guide escorts
  • Ability to manage a cluster of schools and routes with Escorts within a designated area
  • Experience supporting staff on the ground and providing support as well as solutions to complex situations
  • Experience of working in a health, social care or education environment and working in partnership with children, young people and their families
