Highways Maintenance Engineer
Are you an experienced Highways Maintenance Engineer looking for your next challenge? Carrington West is recruiting for a skilled professional to join our client's team and take charge of highway surfacing works and maintenance programmes.

The Role:
As a Highways Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and delivering highways resurfacing programmes, ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency. This role will involve a 50/50 split between site and office-based work, giving you a varied and hands-on experience.

Key Responsibilities:
路Programme Management: Control and manage highway surfacing works for an in-house resurfacing gang.
路Site Assessments: Determine the most appropriate surfacing materials, design required thickness, and specify appropriate layers for road resurfacing.
路Planning & Coordination: Develop Gantt charts, create estimates, order materials, book road space, and apply for utility records.
路Data Analysis: Assess road core data to inform resurfacing decisions.
路Contractor Management: Oversee Micro Asphalt and Footway Slurry Seal programmes, ensuring site suitability and quality assurance of completed works.
路Quality Inspections: Carry out final inspections to ensure all works meet required standards before acceptance.
路Technical Proficiency: While AutoCAD experience is desirable, it is not essential.
What You Need:
路Proven experience managing highways surfacing and maintenance programmes.
路Strong knowledge of surfacing materials and construction techniques.
路Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate effectively between office and site.
路Experience dealing with external contractors and ensuring work quality.
路Strong organisational skills with the ability to use project planning tools such as Gantt charts.
