This role is pivotal in delivering technical excellence, providing strategic guidance, and driving innovative solutions for infrastructure, environmental, and construction projects.
As a Principal Engineering Geologist, you will manage multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, liaise with clients, and ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership:
    • Oversee geotechnical and geological investigations, analyses, and designs.
    • Provide expert input on rock mechanics, slope stability, foundation design, and ground improvement techniques.
    • Review and sign off technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Project Management:
    • Lead complex engineering geology projects from inception to completion.
    • Manage budgets, timelines, and resource allocation effectively.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
    • Represent the company at client meetings, technical forums, and industry events.
    • Prepare and deliver compelling project proposals and presentations.
  • Team Development:
    • Mentor and train junior geologists and engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
    • Promote collaboration within the team and across departments.
    • Support recruitment efforts and contribute to succession planning.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
    • Champion a strong safety culture across all project activities.
    • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures.
    • Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and sustainable practices.


Job Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
    • A postgraduate qualification is desirable.
  • Professional Certification:
    • Chartered status with a recognised professional body (e.g., CGeol, CEng).
  • Experience:
    • Significant experience in engineering geology or geotechnical consultancy, including leadership roles.
    • Proven track record in delivering large-scale, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., SLIDE, Plaxis, GeoStudio).
    • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
