As a Principal Engineering Geologist, you will manage multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, liaise with clients, and ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership:
- Oversee geotechnical and geological investigations, analyses, and designs.
- Provide expert input on rock mechanics, slope stability, foundation design, and ground improvement techniques.
- Review and sign off technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Project Management:
- Lead complex engineering geology projects from inception to completion.
- Manage budgets, timelines, and resource allocation effectively.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Represent the company at client meetings, technical forums, and industry events.
- Prepare and deliver compelling project proposals and presentations.
- Team Development:
- Mentor and train junior geologists and engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Promote collaboration within the team and across departments.
- Support recruitment efforts and contribute to succession planning.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
- Champion a strong safety culture across all project activities.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures.

Job Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
- A postgraduate qualification is desirable.
- Professional Certification:
- Chartered status with a recognised professional body (e.g., CGeol, CEng).
- Experience:
- Significant experience in engineering geology or geotechnical consultancy, including leadership roles.
- Proven track record in delivering large-scale, multidisciplinary projects.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., SLIDE, Plaxis, GeoStudio).
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
