About the RoleWe are looking for a Principal Engineer to support the Dreadnought Programme at BAE Systems Submarines. Based in Filton, this role plays a vital part in assuring the shock resilience and structural integrity of submarine systems, protecting critical equipment and personnel from the effects of non-contact underwater explosions (NCUE).You will deliver technical guidance, review engineering designs, and contribute to structural assessments using classical methods and finite element techniques.Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver and lead structural shock assessments for submarine systems and components.
  • Review and sign-off engineering designs, qualification evidence and documentation.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in structural dynamics and mechanical shock design.
  • Guide teams and support technical reviews through all lifecycle stages.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams on physical shock testing and rig design.
  • Provide assurance for shock qualification against programme requirements and safety cases.
  • Support the development of policies, processes, and documentation related to shock and dynamics.
