We are working with Bristol City Council on a Fire Safety Manager position to ensure the safety of the building, primarily for the safety of all occupants of multi-occupied residential buildings including Low-Rise Residential Buildings, High-Rise Residential Buildings, and Supported Housing for Older People (SHOP).

You will be responsible for meeting our statutory obligations for fire safety, in addition to being required to input on the Council’s fire safety strategies and policies. There will also be a requirement to input on the Building Safety policies and procedures, as well as developing and updating fire safety strategies and working on fire safety aspects of building safety cases.

Location: Bristol City Council 

Set-up: Hybrid

Rate: £258/day, via umbrellla inside IR35

Duration: Initial 3-month sign-off, potential extension

Hours: Full-time position

Responsibilities include:

  • Initiate and lead the delivery of Fire Safety internal projects, ensuring Fire Safety in line with the Council policies, ensuring effective and appropriate translation of Fire Safety Strategy into practical application through the active promotion of Fire Safety
  • Drive the Councils risk management approach ensuring the Council remains compliant with cyclical fire safety programmes of work
  • Strategic lead for Fire Safety, working with the Primary Authority Partners at Avon Fire & Rescue Service
  • Ensure the Council meets both statutory and non-statutory fire safety responsibilities, in line with legislation and associated building regulations
  • Undertake or procure a service to undertake 3rd party audits on fire safety related matters, inspections, and/or investigations

Requirements:

  • Local Government experience required for initial shortlisting, then thereafter at the client’s discretion
  • To provide confident leadership and clear management to ensure the effective operational delivery of the service
  • To provide confident leadership and clear management of significant and complex high-risk projects and/or programmes
  • To contribute to strategic and operational development, drawing on the jobholder’s specialist expertise
