  • The role requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in delivering mixed tenure projects from concept to completion on both green and brown-field sites.
  • The Technical Manager will be responsible for ensuring that development briefs, designs, and specifications are executed with a focus on cost, quality, and overall viability.
  • Candidates should possess knowledge of Building Regulations and experience managing Planning Conditions, with a salary offered in the range of £50,000 to £60,000 per annum.
  • The successful applicant will work collaboratively with various teams and must have experience in sustainability and net-zero carbon solutions.

Our client a regional affordable housing organisation require a Technical Manager to join there expanding Construction team.

The Technical Manager will support the Head of Technical in delivering all technical functions in support of Development / Land and Planning Teams to help meet the new business delivery targets for S106, Land-Led and mix tenure opportunities. You will work in collaboration with Consultants, Technical and colleagues to identify and mitigate technical, procurement, commercial, statutory, build risks and inefficiencies

In the role you will ensure that the Company's development brief, designs, specifications, and relevant information, are executed and specified with due regard to cost, quality, time and overall viability, by design Consultants and Contractors, so that the Company's objectives are fully met.

You will also be responsible for all technical due-diligence functions on land appraisals, proposing compliant and cost-effective solutions.

You will be required to take a commercially focused approach through design, procurement and delivery of a new house and apartment portfolio, incorporating modern methods of construction and embrace the Net Zero Carbon challenge, whilst also supporting the Project Manager, Regional Development Managers and Technical Assistants, pro-actively helping to implement site Quality Control standards

To be successful in this role you will have the following experience:

  • Relevant experience as a Technical Manager delivering mix tenure projects from concept to completion on green and brown-field sites
  • Proven technical and engineering excellence when technically appraising land & constraints in support of Land Team
  • Experience in delivering Regulatory and Statutory / Warranty compliance as it relates to residential development
  • Technical excellence in sustainability, net-zero carbon solutions, fabric-first approach and renewable technologies
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations, NHBC Technical Standards, specifications (current and emerging) as it relates to residential development and ability to integrate the same into emerging technical designs
  • Experience managing and discharging Planning Conditions of a technical nature
  • Able to manage third parties to ensure information is produced to time, budget and that pre-set objectives are met
  • A strategic thinker, able to engage in a wide field of enquiry
  • Highly organised and self-managing
  • Good communicator of Client / Consultant / Contractor Teams
  • Have experience of monitoring construction works on site and supporting Quality Teams
  • Have experience of commissioning and certification procedures appropriate at building completion and handover

You will ideally have a minimum further education qualification (HNC / HND / Degree) and / or relevant construction, maintenance or building related professional qualifications. You will also preferably have experience of working within an affordable housing provider organisation or Residential House Builder working alongside a team of fellow Construction & Development property professionals.

You will also be experienced of reporting to Executive management teams & board level.
