SEN Teaching Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a fantastic school in the Bristol area seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team for the new academic year. In this role, you will support children with special needs, including those across various levels of the autistic spectrum, aged 16+. This is an immediate start position, with the potential for a long-term placement following a successful trial period.

Key skills the ideal candidate will have:

  • Comfortable working 1:1 or with small groups of children in an SEND setting
  • Strong verbal communication skills and active listening abilities
  • Ability to care for children's physical, social, and emotional well-being
  • Empathetic and understanding in handling complex, sensitive issues
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures to ensure children's safety

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people or SEND in any capacity
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Must live in or near Bristol, or within a commutable distance
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written
