Principal Ecologist

There is an opportunity for a Principal Ecologist to join an environmental company near Bristol! The role is a remote position, with the option to go into the office. You will have the opportunity to lead and manage a variety of ecological projects, providing expert guidance on environmental assessments and biodiversity strategies.

This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects across diverse sectorsand have the option to grow and lead a team. The company offer a company car, flexible working hours, paid memberships and Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay and leave.

Key Responsibilities;
  • Lead and manage ecological assessments, habitat surveys, and impact studies for various projects.
  • Conduct and oversee field surveys, including protected species surveys, habitat assessments, and ecological monitoring.
  • Prepare and review ecological reports
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, providing expert advice and guidance on ecological issues.
  • Mentor and support junior ecologists, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
  • Ensure projects comply with relevant legislation, planning policies, and environmental standards.
You will ideally have;
  • Experience within an ecological consultancy or a related field.
  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related discipline. A master's degree or PhD is advantageous.
  • Experience with ecological survey techniques, data analysis, and report writing. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A Strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation, planning regulations, and best practices in ecological management.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality work with a positive impact.
