Role: Business Analyst/Information Management

Location: Bristol Hybrid 2 days in office

Duration: Rolling 6 month contract (likely several years)

We are currently recruiting for a Business Analyst for Information Management, and you'll be part of a cross-disciplinary team within Digital & IT, working closely with project managers, information architects, data scientists, data engineers and business insight specialists.

You will be responsible for ensuring the customer engagement and support service within Information Management identifies and engages with business stakeholders to ensure their information requirements are identified, documented and articulated.

As a Business Analyst for Information Management and you'll join one of our most exciting and ambitious projects. At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building the first nuclear power station to be constructed in the UK for over two decades, which at the operating stage will employ several hundred people and make a major contribution to the UK's move to reduce carbon emissions.

What you'll be doing

As a Business Analyst for Information Management, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Identifying and documenting HPC (Hinkley Point C) Project Business information requirements
  • Working closely with the Information Management Lead, Information Architect and Development Teams to provide consistent gathering/delivery of information requirements to resolve complex business challenges.
  • Acting as a bridge between business and digital organisation and guiding the Business through to the relevant Information Management services
  • Supporting the development of HPC Information Management tools, processes and procedures
  • Supporting the development of communication and guidance material to build knowledge and understanding of Information Management across HPC

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in delivering digital projects i.e. information requirement development, data analysis and IT system specification within complex, fast-paced capital projects environment
  • Excellent engagement skills, including interviewing, facilitating workshops, mediating and presenting
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with business stakeholders from a variety of disciplines and levels, and communicate clearly to ensure that HPC understands the available Information Management Services and the best way of accessing them
  • Strong practical knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
  • Experience in one or more of the Information Management disciplines of Information Architecture, Information Analysis, Master Data Management, Data Administration or Database System development would be a bonus.
  • Degree level or equivalent in a related subject or business relevant subject preferred

  • Business Analysis: Leverage 5 or more years of experience in business analysis to contribute valuable insights and drive strategic decision-making on complex, large-scale digital projects.
  • Requirements Gathering: Demonstrate expertise in translating Business needs into comprehensive Requirements Catalogue and extracting valuable information to drive consensus on key project aspects. Ensure clarity, accuracy, and completeness in the documentation.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to interface with Business Stakeholders from a variety of disciplines and levels, both internal and external, to understand their needs and expectations. Foster strong relationships to manage diverse opinions and expectations and ensure effective communication and alignment with project goals.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate seamlessly with other analysis or architecture teams to create a cohesive and integrated approach. Share best practices, insights, and lessons learned to enhance the overall effectiveness of the information analysis function.
  • Workload Management: Take ownership of managing your own workload efficiently and effectively. Prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing project requirements while maintaining a high level of quality in deliverables.
  • Technical Skills: Strong practical knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint and Visio, to create process flows, diagrams, and other visual representations to enhance understanding and communication of complex concepts.
  • Information Management: Experience in one or more of the Information Management disciplines of Information Architecture, Information Analysis, Master Data Management, Data Administration or Database System development would be a bonus.
