Job Overview:

We are seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer to take ownership of designing, testing, and evaluating electrical devices or systems. You will be responsible for preparing detailed design specifications, conducting feasibility studies, and ensuring that designs meet both time and cost constraints. The role involves collaborating closely with internal teams to develop robust, cost-effective electrical designs, from concept through to customer acceptance.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Development:

  • Utilize AutoCAD Electrical to produce detailed control panel schematics and wiring lists, leveraging intelligent automation tools.
  • Create and develop electrical system designs, including electrical schematics, cabling harness designs, component specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
  • Perform system-level analysis, including load budgeting, EMC compliance, and circuit design, ensuring system redundancy and functionality.

Lifecycle Support:

  • Provide electrical technical support throughout the entire product lifecycle: from concept development, system engineering, and qualification, to manufacturing and customer acceptance.
  • Work under the guidance of the Principal Electrical Engineer and Technical Manager to ensure designs meet all specifications and standards.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Collaborate closely with internal systems engineering and design teams to define electrical specifications, environmental requirements, and manufacturing strategies.
  • Build strong working relationships across departments to ensure the development of robust, cost-effective electrical solutions.

Compliance & Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct electrical system analysis and justify calculations, ensuring compliance with EMC and environmental standards.
  • Develop and follow qualification plans to ensure designs meet the required environmental and EMC qualifications.

Key Requirements:

  • AutoCAD Electrical: Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical for creating detailed schematics and wiring lists.
  • Electrical Design: Experience in circuit design, EMC, and redundancy, including working with COTS PLCs.
  • Technical Support: Experience supporting the design process from start to finish under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Documentation: Ability to create technical documents like schematics and component specifications.

Desirable Skills:

  • Project Support: Help develop engineering plans and work with managers on impact assessments and proposals.
  • Design Verification & Compliance: Review design artifacts produced by subcontractors to ensure compliance with relevant electrical requirements, as well as mechanical and environmental design principles.
