A leading player in technology development and product innovation is currently seeking a Lead Power Electronics Engineer to join its dynamic and successful development team based in Bristol, UK.

Position Overview:

The Lead Power Electronics Engineer will play a crucial role in a team working on state-of-the-art switch mode power supply design, focusing on the region of 1kW. The position is based in Bristol and offers a stimulating environment where the successful candidate can contribute to delivering solutions that meet customer expectations for performance and timescales.

Experience needed as a Lead Power Electronics Engineer - Bristol:

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in mixed signal and power electronics.
  • Experience with SMPS is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools such as PSpice, SIMetrix, Matlab-Simulink-Simscape is helpful, and knowledge of LLC is desirable.

Desirable skills to have as a Lead Power Electronics Engineer - Bristol:

  • The candidate should demonstrate the ability to understand SMPS hardware system requirements, devise control schemes, and apply digital hardware to meet requirements.
  • Proficiency in moving between the analogue and digital domain is essential.

Qualifications and Knowledge needed as a Lead Power Electronics Engineer:

  • A BSc in subjects related to power electronics is expected, with a relevant MSc / PhD being advantageous.
  • The candidate should possess a solid grounding in the principles of electronics design, knowledge of available components, their performance, and suppliers. Understanding of PCB design rules and industry standards of workmanship is necessary.
