About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cyber Security Engineering Lead to join our Cyber Defence team at Hargreaves Lansdown (HL), a leading financial services company. As the Cyber Security Engineering Lead, you will play a critical role in driving the security and integrity of our systems and data. This role will have a strong focus on leading technical project workstreams and a team of high-performing cyber security and cloud security engineers.

You will be responsible for leading a team, designing, implementing, and enhancing security systems and processes to detect and respond to potential threats in a hybrid cloud environment. You will act as a cyber security technical subject matter expert with input into wider digital projects to ensure the highest level of security standards and appropriate security coverage. This role requires leadership experience, cyber technical expertise, and a proven track recording of building and running technical cyber security teams.

What you'll be doing

  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team of cyber security experts across, security operations, vulnerability management, offensive security and cyber threat intelligence
  • Leading the design and implementation of new cyber security capabilities across data security, application security, cloud security, endpoint security and infrastructure security
  • Providing technical leadership and subject matter expertise in cyber security.
  • Leading and managing a high-performing team of cyber security engineers across project and business as usual activities
  • Responsible for the implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of cyber security capabilities and technologies
  • Engaging regularly with stakeholders across the business to drive project delivery for cyber security solutions
  • Ownership of technical delivery of multiple workstreams for cyber security capabilities

About you

  • Proven experience in a technical cyber security leadership within a hybrid cloud and regulated environment
  • Strong knowledge of security best practices, standards, compliance and frameworks.
  • Technical knowledge of leading cloud platforms and services and their associated security capabilities
  • Strong experience in managing multiple projects and workstreams whilst leading a team of high-performing security engineers
  • Proven experience in delivering complex security solutions from inception to operationalisation
  • In-depth knowledge of security engineering principles, practices, and technologies
  • Excellent technical knowledge with security tooling, such as Firewalls and IDS/IPS, EDR, DLP as well as log ingestion formats from these tools
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex security issues
  • Strong communication, collaboration skills and leadership capabilities

Interview process

The interview process for this role is two stages including an assessment task.

Working Schedule

This role is based in our Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This is a permanent full-time role, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We have returned to the office, however for this role we offer a hybrid flexible working pattern of working in the office and at home or remote working depending on your location.
