We are currently working on the below opportunity for an Estate Surveyor working with a Local Authority to assist with property management, L&T, valuation and property issues, advise internal clients, manage portfolio operations, and negotiate surplus property disposals. Estates Surveyor

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 3-6 Months Initially

Rate: £400 p/d (Inside IR35)

Hybrid Working Arrangement: 1-2 Days Onsite

Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist in the preparation of land and property valuations for sales, purchases, leases, wayleaves and easements, asset valuation and insurance purposes
  • To assist in the negotiation of sales, purchases, leases including renewals and rent reviews, wayleaves, and easements
  • To provide strategic property advice and support to senior officers within the council to enable the efficient and effective management of the portfolio
  • To prepare sales and letting particulars as necessary and assist in designing and implementing appropriate marketing campaigns
  • To assist in the collection and analysis of evidence of property transactions
  • Attending meetings of committees, sub-committees, working parties and working groups as necessary, drafting and presenting reports to these and other groups.
  • Contributing as appropriate to the development and implementation of corporate and/or directorate initiatives or policies
  • Undertaking negotiations with partners and external organisations
  • Contributing as appropriate to service transformation & improvement activities
  • Conducting such other work as may be assigned to him/her by the Director or Chief Officer from time to time

Key Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Corporate membership of the RICS in the relevant faculties (desirable)
  • Full Understanding of Landlord and Tenant Act 1954, and surrounding legislation
  • Understanding and relevant practical experience of the Principles of Valuation and Estate Management & an understanding of the wider property market and how to successfully market land and buildings
  • Customer focused & working closely with internal services and external partners, with well-honed communication skills to match your audience
  • Experience working with a local authority and knowledge of processes – able to hit the ground running
  • Can be relied on to take cases forward acting independently and proactively to achieve objectives
