About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced FP&A Analyst to take a pivotal role in our financial planning and analysis processes. This position is essential to driving financial performance and delivering key insights that support strategic decision-making within the business. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and will be able to work closely with senior management.
Key Responsibilities for the FP&A Analyst:
- Financial Reporting: Serve as the lead for Business Unit financial reporting, managing both routine and ad-hoc reporting requirements.
- Forecasting & Budgeting: Take ownership of the monthly short-term forecast (STF) and the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) forecast, ensuring accuracy and providing detailed supporting schedules.
- Performance Analysis: Analyse Business Unit financial forecasts and provide independent assessments of performance versus plan, highlighting risks and opportunities to management.
- Variance Analysis: Deliver comprehensive variance analysis of actual results versus forecast, offering actionable insights to drive performance improvements.
- Budget Oversight: Establish and monitor departmental budgets, indirect rate forecasts, and associated estimates, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives.
- Financial Modelling: Develop advanced financial models, forecasting tools, and dashboards that enhance the accuracy of financial planning and improve overall efficiency.
- Strategic Insights: Analyse trends in key financial metrics, including orders, sales, costs, profit, and cash flow, and provide recommendations to senior leadership to inform business strategy.
What we need for the FP&A Analyst:
- Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACMA, or equivalent), with post-qualification experience.
- Expertise: Strong grasp of financial planning and analysis principles, particularly within a government contracting or similar industry environment.
- Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to perform complex financial analysis, including forecasting, variance analysis, and indirect rate development.
- Financial Modelling: Proficient in creating sophisticated financial models and tools that drive efficiency and accuracy.
- Communication: Ability to articulate financial concepts clearly to senior management and provide strategic recommendations.
