Core3 are delighted to partner with a fast growth, law firm based in central Bristol to appoint a newly created Billing Manager position in their finance team. The role is offering £35,000-£40,000 + Hybrid working 3 days a week.

How you'll make an impact

This role will play a pivotal part in transforming their billing operations from a decentralised process currently handled by their client support services, to a streamlined, efficient, and centralised billing function. This is a strategic position within the firm, requiring a hands-on leader who can build the team from the ground up while setting the vision and direction for the billing department.

Invoicing and Billing Procedures:

  • Preparing, reviewing, and finalising client invoices, including ensuring that all billable hours, expenses, and disbursements are correctly recorded and billed.
  • Ensuring that invoices comply with client agreements, including billing rates, formats, and any specific client requirements.
  • Managing the billing cycle to ensure that invoices are sent out promptly and in accordance with the firm's timelines.
  • Acting as the point of contact for clients regarding billing questions or disputes, providing clarification, and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Working with clients and attorneys to establish and manage alternative fee arrangements (AFAs) and other billing agreements.
  • Generating regular reports on billing activities, including revenue projections, outstanding invoices, and accounts receivable.
  • Analysing billing data to identify trends, inefficiencies, or areas for improvement in the firm's billing practices.
  • Building a team of billing clerks or specialists, overseeing their work, and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Providing training to staff on billing software, procedures, and compliance requirements.
