We have a fantasticFinance Business Partner/Management Accountantrole working for a Bristol based property business. Initially a three-month contract, with the possibility of going permanent, this is relatively new position and a very exciting opportunity for a PQ or qualified Management Accountant looking to step in a Business Partner role. The position is full time and hybrid, working two days per week in the office which is based in central Bristol with free parking.

The role

This role leads finance processes within a key Directorate, utilising outputs to provide insightful analysis of financial information, influence business decisions and challenging value for money. The role also provides financial support guidance and expertise to the Directorate to enable the provision of an effective service to its customers. Within the Directorate, this role assists in operational decision making by providing timely and insightful financial information, understanding the past to influence the future.

The role reports into the Director but other stakeholders include Head of Finance, other Head of and the Executive Team.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as Business Partner to budget holders within the Directorate and be their main point of contact for financial analysis monthly, developing forecasts, budgets and supporting and influencing their decision making.
  • Working with Head of Finance to develop and deliver budget reporting, internal and external financial reporting, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Assisting with the businesses ongoing disposal strategy by working with the Directorate, leading on the financial side of option appraisals, with the Head of Finance
  • Modelling investment appraisals including sensitivity analysis
  • Monitoring capital, development and sales programmes and assisting with maintaining the fixed asset register
  • Working with the Finance Team to develop enhanced reporting to the directorate including existing and new homes delivery
  • Providing financial assurance to the Director
  • Actively challenging and providing solutions to complex financial scenarios and identifying new and alternative income streams to support the directorate in income recognition process
  • Providing financial support when Development opportunities require joint venture or other commercial structures
  • Supporting the Development Team with financial reporting to stakeholders and grant providers
  • Developing and maintaining key processes providing an opportunity to shape future delivery

The person

  • Minimum of AAT qualified but CIMA/ACA/ACCA qualified or part qualified would be beneficial, QBE will also be considered
  • Experience of financial business partnering, translating financial information into business intelligence
  • Experienced in supporting the production of monthly reporting, including reporting on KPIs
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Experience in working to month end timetables
  • Experience in building relationships with operational colleagues
  • Experience of analysing financial performance and converting data into insight
  • Experience of working within the property and construction or repairs process would be advantageous
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills (including Excel)
  • Ability to pragmatically solve problems
  • Ability to write insightful and concise financial commentary

The salary

39,485 (if the role goes permanent the successful candidate would benefit from a small pay increase at salary review time as uplifts have already been decided)
