Finance Business Partner

Salary: £73,688.00

Location: Bristol - Office based role

About the Role: The Finance Business Partner will take the lead in delivering high-quality financial advice and commercial expertise to the organisation. This is a critical role that involves overseeing financial management, including budgeting, medium- and long-term financial planning, project support, forecasting, financial reporting, and control. You will be responsible for managing capital and resource planning for general funds, ring-fenced funds, and partnership funds (e.g., West of England Combined Authority), as well as overseeing the closure of annual accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on providing comprehensive financial services including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Manage and deliver long-term capital and resource planning for various funds.
  • Provide innovative support to senior managers and councillors, working collaboratively across departments.
  • Take a proactive approach in managing complex propositions and projects, ensuring they align with strategic and operational goals.
  • Contribute to the transformation of financial services and governance within the organisation.
  • Provide leadership and clear management of high-risk programmes and projects.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Full CCAB qualification or Certified Member of the Institute of Risk Management (or equivalent).
  • Proven financial acumen with experience in building commercial and economic models.
  • Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards, financial markets, and funding opportunities.
  • In-depth knowledge of technical accounting in a Local Authority.
  • Ability to support complex and high-risk financial initiatives and provide clear, confident leadership.
