KJA are working exclusively on this exciting Finance Director mandate with a Bristol based organisation who have a strong sustainability focus and commitment to improving the environment. Having gone through a period of transformation, the organisation is now looking for a commercial FD with excellent business partnering skills to support and help facilitate further growth.

This role is hybrid with 3 days required in the office.

Whilst run as a commercial business, all profits are reinvested into the organisation (which directly serves the community) or into delivering social value.

Reporting to the Managing Director, and as an integral member of the Board and Executive team, the role is accountable for the leadership and management of Finance, Governance & Risk, IT and Procurement functions. This includes financial strategy, financial management, risk management, technology, data and reporting, internal audit, and company governance. The role also acts as Company Secretary.

You will be a collaborator, committed to doing the right thing, a strong communicator and focused on ensuring both you and your teams perform.

Financial Responsibilities Include;

  • Provide the Board and Executive team with timely advice and guidance with which to make key decisions re risk appraisals and the financial health of the business.
  • Provide oversight and monitoring of the company’s financial risks and associated systems and controls.
  • Evaluate key business opportunities that will contribute to the organisation’s short and long-term business goals.
  • Develop the annual financial business plan, in partnership with the Managing Director.
  • Ensure that all monthly financial reporting and forecasting is produced accurately and on time.
  • Ensure relationships with relevant key stakeholders are maintained within the provision of key financial insights.
  • Train budget holders in appropriate levels of financial management and control.
  • Ensure that all legal financial reporting requirements are adhered to.

Experience required

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) with strong stakeholder management experience- ability to establish and maintain credibility with senior colleagues and other non-finance stakeholders.
  • We are open to considering candidates who are looking for their first move into a Finance Director role (from an FC or Head of Finance role) assuming you can demonstrate the breadth of experience required.
  • Equally keen to consider experienced profiles who are looking for a change and are inspired by our social ethos.
  • Experience of working within recycling/retail/waste/cleaning/logistics desirable although not essential.
  • Experience of leading and inspiring/developing a team.
  • Strong core financial acumen and technical finance skill set; ability to provide guidance to the business to optimise its investments and make sound financial decisions.
  • Ability to look at the strategic finances of the organisation as well as possessing the technical skills to oversee the operational finance matters.
  • A team player, demonstrating honesty, openness and integrity.
  • A good sense of humour.
