My Local Government client is recruiting for a Finance Manager to join their Children and Education's team. The role of the Finance Manager will be to provide financial advice and guidance to managers in order to improve business performance as well as take a proactive approach in managing and delivering timely financial and management accounting services including budgeting, medium- and long-term financial planning, project support, forecasting, in-year financial reporting (including the closure of the annual accounts) and control.
Day to day duties will include:
- To identify, develop and support opportunities and initiatives to transform the delivery of financial services.
- Assist in the preparation of information for officers, elected members and the public in relation to financial issues & collaborate with external partners and agencies as required.
- To progress all the key internal & external financial documents for your respective area of the portfolio
- Undertake appropriate development work as required in response to changing financial regimes, new government legislation & initiatives and to determine the financial implications of policy changes/decisions.
- To be part of the finance management team, collectively finding solutions to ensure all matters arising are addressed satisfactorily and actions agreed to address any issues.
As part of the role you will also be responsible for managing a team of Accountants and you will need to be able to develop and motivate this team.
In order to be considered for the role of Finance Manager you will need to have the following experience and qualifications:
- CCAB qualified
- Experience of planning, motivating & controlling the work of a diverse team of Finance staff dealing with complex accounting issues, to manage & motivate a team, including holding all team members to account
- Able to demonstrate considerable operational experience in a minimum of three of the following: * Supporting the optimisation of effective finance systems * Budget preparation, analysing and monitoring complex budgets * Project accounting work - producing business case and benefit realisation * Producing and analysing complex financial reports * Completing statutory accounts for a complex organisation * Financial modelling
Extensive Local Government finance experience.
The role will be offered on a hybrid basis with a salary of circa £55,000.
