Venn Group are currently working with an NHS organisation in the South-West, who are seeking an Assistant Head of Finance to provide financial management, monitoring and reporting for Funded Care, Community & Children’s Services.

Main duties of the job:

  • Ensure financial and performance information requirements are successfully met including participation in production of long-term financial plans, monthly finance and activity reporting
  • Support performance management arrangements across the organisation and ensure that appropriate action is taken to improve performance
  • Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitor on-going financial performance ensuring the timely and accurate presentation of financial information and advice
  • Maintain appropriate budget systems and processes to accurately assess performance
  • Support and advise managers to work within Standing Orders, Standing Financial Instructions and statutory obligations including the Corporate Governance Framework
  • Support the CFO in ensuring that the Organisations’ financial procedures and policies, including Standing Orders, Standing Financial Instructions and Budgetary Control Policy are in place
  • Transfer expertise and knowledge as appropriate, regarding innovation issues throughout the team and externally to Directors and lead providers

Essential Skills:

  • CCAB Qualified Accountant with 1-2 Years post-qualification experience
  • Detailed knowledge of the NHS Finance and Performance regime
  • Competent in the use of financial ledger systems such as Oracle
