The Head of Accounting, Reporting & Control will lead the Energy division's financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations. This senior leadership role requires strong technical accounting expertise, people management skills, and a commitment to driving improvements in financial processes and risk management.

Operating the largest network of Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs) in the UK, the company plays a vital role in reducing landfill waste and contributing to the nation's sustainability and net-zero carbon goals through energy generation and recycling initiatives.

Description

Reporting to the Energy- CFO the role takes responsibility within the Energy division for the accurate and timely production of financial, statutory and relevant shareholder external reporting, for ensuring Energy divisional compliance with legislative and accounting regulations and standards, and for the maintenance of finance policies and procedures, including the Energy division financial internal controls framework. The role is additionally pivotal to the coordination of the Divisional risk registers updates and cascade to the wider management (ELT) and is a member of the Energy division Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

The main focus of the role being:

  • Ownership of Energy division Accounting, Reporting and Control function.
  • Role requiring high levels of technical competence, supporting all aspects of Energy division financial, statutory reporting, risk management and internal controls.
  • The role-holder is expected to be a strong people manager and will deputise for the Energy CFO when required.

Profile

Will have proven to be or have:

  • Strong people manager to deliver the demands of a deadline driven Finance division in a growing business.
  • Strong knowledge of technical financial accounting, financial reporting and statutory accounting.
  • In depth experience of developing and improving financial internal controls frameworks appropriate to the scale of the organisation.
  • Robust Risk management matrix experience.
  • Preferably "Big 4" trained or equivalent with demonstrable post qualification experience.
  • M&A and support of business growth projects.

Key Qualifications

  • Degree educated or equivalent experience
  • ACA qualified.
