Your new companyHays are working with a South West based Insurance company to recruit a Head of Group Financial Reporting & Controls to join the business in this newly created role, reporting into the CFO. Your new roleIn this newly created role, we are looking for a strong technical accountant with excellent leadership skills that can help shape the landscape for financial accounting, regulatory reporting, financial control, financial operations, systems and tax. This role will manage 4 direct reports and indirectly manage a team of 25 and reports directly into the CFO. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and oversee the development and delivery of financial and regulatory reporting.
  • Managing the external audit process throughout the year.
  • Manage the Balance Sheet control for monthly reporting and supporting the Group FP&A team.
  • Be a key point of contact for all technical accounting matter for the wider group.
  • Drive the development and maintenance of an effective financial controls framework.
  • Ensure appropriate controls are designed, implemented and operated throughout reporting cycles
  • Provide leadership and oversight to all aspects of finance operations and transactional finance including AP, AR, Banking and General Ledger Accounting
  • Provide finance systems and technology leadership, support and leading on finance systems, processes and data management.

What you'll need to succeedWe are looking for a qualified accountant, with extensive technical experience in an insurance setting. You should be able to lead, coach and engage teams, delivering an efficient and effective finance function to support a group of companies. You should have experience of leading change programmes either across individual teams or across whole group systems. This role is based in Bristol close to the M4 / M5 and the client would be looking for someone to attend the office 2 days per week.
