Record to Report Finance Director - Hybrid working (2/3 days a week on site)
Role Overview
My client, a leading consumer brands group, based near Bristol, is looking to hire a Finance Director to lead their Record to Report (RTR) function as part of their Global Business Services (GBS) Transformation. The incoming post-holder be responsible for overseeing all RTR functions, ensuring performance, efficiency, and accuracy in line with key performance indicators (KPIs). Additionally, you will lead and mentor GBS Accounting Leads (across several European regions ) and collaborate closely with the RTR Global Process Owner.
This role will also involve working alongside the BPO to monitor and report on GBS operational costs, promoting cost awareness and budget alignment with the GBS Management team.
Partnering with the BPO RTR management team and the regional and country CFO network, you will oversee month-end execution, reporting, and the review of controllership reports before submission to Group Finance and regional stakeholders to ensure accuracy and compliance.
A key aspect of this position is fostering a culture of continuous process improvement with the BPO, leveraging technology and automation tools to enhance efficiency and reduce manual processes.
This senior leadership position ensures alignment with the group finance regional structure, drives consistent and efficient balance sheet management, and ensures the month-end close process is compliant with IFRS and GAAP statutory requirements. You will play a crucial role in shaping the evolution of the global RTR function during this pivotal period for the organisation.

This role requires strong leadership, relationship management, deep expertise in RTR processes and technology, and the ability to navigate complex financial structures within a rapidly evolving organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee RTR operations from a KPI, efficiency, and accuracy standpoint, ensuring seamless execution across multiple regions.
- Develop and implement a global strategy for GBS RTR processes in collaboration with the RTR Global Process Owner network.
- Lead and mentor GBS Regional Accounting Leads, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, controls, and standards across all countries within the GBS scope.
- Maintain accurate GBS cost reporting with the support of the Contracts Manager and report findings to the GBS Management team.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with regional and country CFOs, Group Finance, and Genpact management to ensure efficient balance sheet reporting.
- Ensure adherence to global policies, regulations, and reporting requirements within your assigned regions.
- Drive continuous process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of balance sheet reporting.
- Stay updated on IFRS/GAAP legislation, industry trends, and emerging finance technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (GPO, finance, legal, IT) to streamline month-end close processes and data integration.
- Develop and monitor KPIs and service level agreements (SLAs) to assess and improve month-end reporting performance.
- Manage relationships with internal and external auditors, tax authorities, and other stakeholders in coordination with the GBS Statutory Accounting & Audit Lead.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations on balance sheet management.
- Engage in professional networks and industry forums to stay abreast of best practices and knowledge sharing.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, ACCA, CIMA preferred).
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a global finance environment.
- Experience in managing outsourced accounting operations and service providers is highly desirable.
- Proven leadership track record within a complex RTR function, including external partner management and change leadership.
- Comprehensive knowledge of RTR processes, including month-end close, tax, treasury, commercial finance, and group reporting.
- Strong understanding of global financial reporting, compliance, and regulatory requirements across multiple regions.
- Extensive experience in managing financial reporting relationships across diverse stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strategic mindset with problem-solving capabilities to drive process enhancements and optimize RTR operations.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Knowledge of data protection regulations and confidentiality best practices in financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Power BI, for data analysis and reporting.
