12 MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT WITH POTENTIAL FOR EXTENSION

 

The Client

Our client a leading renewable energy company focused on pioneering clean energy solutions.
With a commitment to delivering high-impact, large-scale solar energy solutions, they are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join their team for the exciting development of a 50MW solar farm project. To oversee all Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental (HSQE) aspects of our 50MW solar farm project near Bristol, ensuring compliance, best practices, and a safe working environment for all stakeholders.

 

 

The Role of Health & Safety Manager

The HSQE Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, quality, and environmental (HSQE) standards throughout the design, construction, and commissioning phases of the project. The role requires strong leadership, regulatory knowledge, and risk management expertise to ensure compliance with CDM 2015 regulations, industry best practices, and our clients own HSQE policies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Health & Safety

 

  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations (2015) and all other relevant UK health & safety legislation.
  • Develop and implement site-specific health & safety plans, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS).
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits, identifying hazards and ensuring corrective actions are taken.
  • Lead safety briefings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Investigate and report accidents, near-misses, and incidents, ensuring lessons are learned and improvements implemented.
  • Manage permit-to-work systems and ensure safe working practices for all site personnel.

 

Quality Assurance

 

  • Develop and enforce quality control measures to meet industry standards and project requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with design specifications, contractual requirements, and quality benchmarks.
  • Work closely with engineering and construction teams to ensure installation works meet required technical and regulatory standards.

 

Environmental Management

 

  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee waste management, pollution control, and biodiversity protection measures.
  • Monitor and report on environmental impact, carbon footprint, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Engage with local authorities, regulatory bodies, and community stakeholders to ensure environmental best practices are followed.

 

Risk & Compliance Management

 

  • Develop and maintain the project risk register, identifying and mitigating key HSQE risks.
  • Conduct HSQE audits and assessments, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure all parties meet HSQE requirements.
  • Ensure all incident reports, safety records, and compliance documentation are up to date.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent in Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or Quality Management.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HSQE roles, preferably in utility-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
  • Experience conducting site audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in HSQE reporting systems and project management tools.
