This contractor excels in remediation design, utilising a wide range of commercially viable remediation technologies, major earthworks, groundworks, civil engineering, and landfill construction. Their projects, valued from tens of thousands to multi-million pounds, are carried out nationwide.

Role Overview: Surveying and CAD Manager

The Surveying and CAD Manager is a crucial link between tender preparation and operational projects. Maintaining close communication with colleagues at all levels within the business, the Surveying and CAD Manager must respond swiftly, independently, and efficiently to diverse requests, ranging from detailed 3D modelling exercises to essential site plans and layouts, as well as site measurement tasks.

The Surveying and CAD Manager is responsible for:

  • Producing tender, contract, and as-built drawings using AutoCAD and other software, including construction details, location plans, and sections.
  • Creating drawings from topographical surveys and site records.
  • Managing 3-D volumetric calculations for soils and works, such as contamination plumes through interpolation, production of Cut / Fill quantities, and extraction of details and quantities from tender drawings, site investigation reports, and other mapping sources.
  • Coordinating site engineering control and setting out activities, providing necessary information to operatives and subcontractors.
  • Completing diary sheets with photographic evidence and ensuring surveying equipment calibration.
  • Managing the drawing block library, database, and file system.
  • Presenting tender and contract documents.
  • Liaising with Directors, Project Managers, and Engineers.
  • Managing and mentoring CAD resources.
  • Supporting tender and marketing efforts with visual representations.

Position Requirements

  • Competency in AutoCAD/Drafting (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent, including previous experience)
  • Knowledge and experience with other MS Office and Windows software
  • LSS or similar 3D modelling knowledge and experience (training can be provided in LSS)
  • Proficiency in the use of modern surveying and setting out instrumentation
  • Good understanding of machine control
  • Relevant CSCS qualification
  • General knowledge of Environmental Engineering and activities of the wider business
