Principal Safety Engineer.Location: Bristol (with hybrid and flexible working options)Salary: £50,000 - £65,000, competitive based on experienceTeam:The Integration Team ensures platform systems meet design and safety requirements. Role Overview:This position involves managing activities under the Design Safety Management Key Safety Function on behalf of the overall Safety Owner. You will be responsible for maintaining and developing the Design Safety Statement for a Strategic Weapons System, conducting hazard reviews, and developing coherency plans. The role also includes liaising with the Project Team and US counterparts to align on the Joint Safety Schedule and creating Naval Authority Certification documentation.Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Design Safety Management activities, ensuring safety requirements are met.
  • Maintain and update the Design Safety Statement for the Strategic Weapons System.
  • Review hazards, assess impacts, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Create and implement coherency plans for Strategic Weapon Systems.
  • Collaborate with the Trident Systems Project Team and engage in UK/US technical exchanges.
  • Develop certification documentation for safety compliance.

Skills and Experience:Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent in a STEM discipline, or relevant experience
  • Experience with complex Safety Cases
  • Systems integration and/or systems engineering experience

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of weapon systems or submarine design
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders and complex organisational structures
  • Familiarity with requirements management, verification, and validation
