Hours: 40 hours per week Term Time Only
Hourly Rate: £11.72 - £12.78 per hour
Annual Salary: £20,941.30 - £22,835.30 per year (actual salary, dependent on experience and qualifications)
Simply Education is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our inspiring school in Pilning, South Gloucestershire, supporting students aged 7-19 with autism and related social and communication needs. Our client provides tailored education for children from Key Stage 2 through post-16, helping each student to explore and fulfil their potential in a caring, safe, and stimulating environment.
Main Purpose of the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, your role is to provide essential support for children's learning and overall wellbeing. You will work closely with students to ensure they have the best opportunities to thrive both academically and personally. This includes working with teachers to deliver high-quality learning experiences and, where necessary, assisting with care needs and positive behaviour management tailored to individual students.
Key Duties:
- Build warm, caring, and supportive relationships with pupils to create a safe and enjoyable learning environment.
- Promote independence and personal development while maintaining high expectations of behaviour.
- Support the Class Teacher in delivering a broad and balanced curriculum, encouraging pupils to achieve their full potential.
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the class and respond to the changing needs of the school.
- Promote the cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, and physical development of students, as well as their spiritual well-being.
- Work collaboratively within a multi-professional team, contributing to pupils' development plans.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping, including documenting incidents, health, and behaviour, under the guidance of senior staff.
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
- GCSE Maths and English at Level 2/C or above.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
- Knowledge or experience of working with pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- A commitment to putting the needs of the child first and treating them as individuals.
- A positive and creative approach to meeting pupils' needs.
Desirable:
- Level 3 qualification in supporting teaching and learning in schools, or equivalent.
- At least one years experience working as a Level 2 qualified Teaching Assistant or equivalent.
