SEN Teaching Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEN, including physical, emotional, and learning disabilities.
  • Assist teachers in delivering differentiated lessons tailored to students' individual needs.
  • Help with classroom management, ensuring a safe and productive environment.
  • Support the development of students' social and emotional skills, fostering independence and self-confidence.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility for students who require it.
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to the development of tailored learning plans.
  • Work closely with SENCOs, teachers, and other support staff to ensure the best outcomes for students.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly desirable.
  • A relevant qualification in Special Educational Needs, Education, or Child Development (e.g., SEN Teaching Assistant certification or equivalent) is beneficial.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to supporting students.
  • Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations.
  • Enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) required.
