An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Avonmouth. Your primary role will be to support students aged 5 - 11 years old with mental health and behavioural needs. This includes working with children experiencing SEMH, behavioural challenges, ADHD, and those in care, among other learning and physical difficulties.
Teaching Assistant Requirements:
A Level 3 qualification or higher (Degree-level qualifications are highly desirable).
Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals (either personally or professionally).
Resilience, adaptability, and a proactive approach.
A genuine passion for mental health and supporting young people.
Role Details:
Position: Teaching Assistant
Location: Avonmouth
Start Date: ASAP
Pay: 83.33 - 90 per day (dependent on experience, qualifications, and training).
Contract: Long-term temporary, with potential for permanent opportunities.
Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.
Experience: Desired but not essential; enthusiasm and a positive attitude are key.
This role is particularly well-suited to graduates in Psychology, Criminology, or Counselling, as well as individuals with experience working with children or vulnerable adults. You will gain invaluable hands-on experience supporting students with a range of needs, such as Autism, ADHD, and developmental trauma. This makes it an excellent stepping stone for careers in psychology, therapy, education, or criminal justice.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Avonmouth students' social, emotional, and academic development through tailored interventions.
Assist the class teacher in managing behaviour and creating a safe, inclusive learning environment.
Work alongside experienced therapists and psychologists to implement therapeutic strategies.
Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them regulate emotions and overcome challenges.
Adapt communication and learning approaches to suit individual student needs.
Gain invaluable frontline experience working with young people in Avonmouth, equipping you with the skills to support those with complex needs effectively.
