Network Engineer - Contract Role - Inside IR35

We are seeking a Network Engineer to manage the day-to-day support of our network and supporting infrastructure. This role involves working closely with IT security analysts and managers to ensure the highest levels of network and security standards are maintained. The ideal candidate will have experience in a large building environment and hold a CCNA or equivalent vendor certification.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide business-as-usual networking support including port re-configuration, fault finding, managing warranty incidents, and software upgrades.
  • Offer IT networking expertise on current state network infrastructure for all IT internal projects and business projects, including hardware, software, licensing, and infrastructure.
  • Assist in the resolution of incidents and major incidents, including network security certification preparation, testing, and review (e.g., Cyber Essentials+ and ISO27001).
  • Work closely with the IT Security function to protect the integrity of data, particularly that relating to personal data or protected by Intellectual Property legislation.
  • Operate within a framework of Continual Service Improvement to ensure that IT Service Support procedures are accurate, appropriate, and up to date.
  • Support the delivery of network and security projects and BAU activity to meet IT & business priorities.
  • Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks including configuration management.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a networking engineer role, ideally in a large building environment.
  • CCNA or equivalent vendor certification.
  • Demonstrable expert knowledge in enterprise networking, L2/L3 concepts, high availability protocols, Wi-Fi administration, next-generation firewalls, and network monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with VPN & Remote Access.
  • Exposure to ISO27001 is desirable.
  • Proactive, well-organised, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
