Systems Engineer
Bristol (hybrid working 2 days per week on site) – 6 month duration with potential to extend – Pay rate £53.84 PAYE basic (£61.67 including holiday pay) or £70 p/h Umbrella
We are looking for a Systems Engineer to work for our defence client on a Laser Directed Energy Weapon (LDEW) project. DragonFire has been and continues to be a boundary pushing weapon system development programme that has significant industry and customer engagement. The programme has been aimed at developing the UKs first LDEW concept demonstrator, achieving significant success recently with several highly publicised trials activities.
As a LDEW System Engineer you will be part of a dynamic and innovative team dedicated to developing advanced defence systems. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the design, development, and integration of advanced LDEW systems, ensuring flawless performance and reliability.
Following on from these successes our client is looking for flexible and motivated candidates to continue to develop DragonFire into a world class, deployable, LDEW air defence system. Our ambitious plans involve parallel and interleaved streams of pioneering technology experimentation and rapid weapon system development, providing opportunities across the key weapon system domains of Systems Engineering: requirements, design, performance analysis and certification.
Responsibilities:
• Delivery of TRS / Verification / Certification documentation throughout the project life cycle
• Support to the delivery of project material for design reviews
• Conduct and delivery of system trade studies analysis and reports
Skillset required:
• Proven ability with System Design Engineering
• Initiate/undertake and drive trade studies and system development activities
• Proven ability of developing complex systems (ideally in defence)
• Ability to communicate architectures and ideas at all levels
• Understand elaboration of user requirements with the design authorities in response to their needs and constraints
• Support functional design with requirement flow down through system/sub-system/equipment
• Ability to disseminate/share technical information to customers in an understandable manner
• Develop excellent working relationships with key partners
• Desire to develop, build and grow the Systems Design team and the people within it as the project develop
• Use of system architecting tools e.g. DOORS/DOORS NG/Rhapsody (desirable)
• Knowledge of lasers or maritime system integration would be beneficial but not essential
• Knowledge of MBSE desirable

Please note, due to the sensitive nature of the projects involved, all candidates must be capable of gaining a UK MOD Security Clearance to SC level. If you are not currently SC cleared the client will sponsor a new application and you can start while this is pending.
This role shall operate inside IR35.
