Applications Manager
Hybrid (Bristol 2 days/week)
£60,000 – 65000 (with truly excellent benefits)
Our client are going through a period of exciting change and transformation. This role will be to lead the teams responsible for a broad area of the organisation’s digital applications and business services portfolio.
You will be accountable for ensuring the delivery of high-quality operational services, that are operated in compliance with architectural and security standards, and that meet the requirements of the organisation and its digital strategy.
• Manage and lead IT technical applications and services teams, ensuring these teams deliver effective digital solutions to the required service levels.
• Oversee the overall operational management of the portfolio of services provided by the teams, ensuring professional levels of lifecycle management, regulatory adherence, and compliance with architectural and security standards.
• Ensure the proactive monitoring and management of the availability and performance of applications and services, measured against SLAs
• Support the Head of Applications with section-level budget planning, management and reporting activities.
• Support the Head of Applications in the development and continuous improvement of an innovative and customer focussed service, driving the team to produce greater consistency and efficiency through use of standard procedures, processes and use of systems, alongside bespoke innovative solutions as required.
• Work with the Head of Applications to develop and implement applications strategies regarding the future direction of the service portfolio in line with the organisations’s overall strategic requirements.
• Develop and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders, both internal and external.
• With your Team Managers, manage third party suppliers to collectively deliver high-quality and cost-effective services, taking action where suppliers are not meeting contractual requirements.
• Identify and manage risk to services using the risk management framework and ensure mitigations are in place, including disaster recovery plans to maintain critical applications and services.
• Lead and manage projects with an organisation wide impact or are complex in nature and be responsible for the time, cost and quality of deliverables including managing project budgets.
• Undertake professional mentoring and coaching of team members, ensuring that the capabilities of the team develop alongside industry change.
• Embed a team culture which promotes the use of collaboration and software management tools and programming best practices to ensure development is managed in a controlled environment as standard practice.
