The UK's trusted Ministry of Defence partner is looking for an experienced Algorithm Specialist to develop Missile and Weapon Systems algorithms across a wide range of defence products. As part of this team, you will support studies managing the complex performance trades between software and hardware and support algorithm proving activities. This position is based at the Bristol site.

As an Algorithm Specialist, the successful candidate will cover a range of capabilities such as autopilots, control systems, mid-course guidance, homing, propulsion control, and mission planning. Activities throughout the product life cycle include early research studies, feasibility and concept stages, product development, and customer support.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in algorithm development in a relevant area (such as guidance, control, data fusion, optimisation, navigation)
  • Experience in Mathematical Modelling would be beneficial (such as flight dynamics, aerodynamics, sensors, and actuation systems)
  • A good understanding of simulation environments (e.g., MATLAB and Simulink, or similar) and programming languages (e.g. FORTRAN, Python).

What you'll get to do as an Algorithm Specialist:

The individual has extensive experience in developing complex real-time software. They possess a solid understanding of UML, with a preference for experience using Rhapsody. Their strong Ada programming skills are complemented by their excellent problem-solving capabilities, particularly in investigating software and hardware issues. They have experience working on safety-critical software (SIL2 or equivalent) and have previously worked with embedded software in a laboratory setting. Additionally, they are proficient in using configuration control tools such as RTC.

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by our clients Security Team.
