Job Title: Simulation and Modelling Engineer

Salary: Up to £55,000 (depending on experience)

Location: Bristol (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 4-5 days per week on-site due to workload classification (predominantly on-site)

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team

The Opportunity

Working primarily in Matlab and Simulink, the Simulation & Modelling department at MBDA are responsible for the development and integration of subsystems to form complex numerical models for missile and system performance assessment.

The work within the team is varied and, depending on project and experience, may involve:

  • Developing component models
  • Integrating models/components that are external to the team and/or company
  • Developing a modelling framework/environment to be leveraged by many projects across the business
  • You will perform technical analyses and investigations into a full range of issues and problems and prepare and develop solutions either individually or as part of a team.
  • You will be expected to engage with the model users, understand and respond to their needs and ensure that the model is fit for its intended use.
  • Participating in peer review of work across the team

On the job training will be provided.

Due to the sensitive nature of our work, we are currently unable to guarantee remote working opportunities. Compliance and adherence to process is an essential part of our work, therefore you should be willing to work in a controlled modelling environment.

A number of positions are currently available at a range of levels depending on experience.

  • Experience of programming in MATLAB and Simulink
  • Experience with configuration control
  • Experience of working within a system-of-systems framework
  • Experience of working with external model suppliers
  • An understanding of modelling and software development processes
