Engineering Production Manager

Location: Bristol

Salary: £45,000-£55,000 + Annual Bonus + Benefits

Are you an experienced Engineering Production Manager with a passion for precision engineering and a proactive, solution-driven mindset? We're looking for a dynamic leader to oversee production operations at a growing, well-established engineering company in the Bristol area.

The Company

A leading precision engineering firm with over 50 years of industry expertise, specialising in CNC machining, engraving, and treatments. Our business operates across a range of sectors including Aerospace & Defence, Automotive, and Medical, consistently delivering top-tier solutions.

The Role

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Engineering Production Manager will lead a multi-disciplinary team, managing all aspects of production to ensure efficiency, quality, and compliance with industry standards. You'll play a key role in driving continuous improvement while maintaining a focus on customer satisfaction and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all production operations, ensuring timely delivery, high quality, and compliance with AS9100D standards.
  • Lead a team of 16 staff, managing both production and office support.
  • Implement Lean practices (e.g., 5S, VSM) to improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations (COSHH, DSEAR) and other quality standards.
  • Manage customer relationships, handling quality, delivery, and specification queries.
  • Take responsibility for procurement, stock control, and supplier management.
  • Drive company growth by tracking KPIs and ensuring production capacity meets demand.

Key Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree (HND or higher) with a minimum of 3 years' production management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Aerospace & Defence sectors and experience with AS9100D QMS compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC machining, chemical treatments, and production planning.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and ERP systems.

Desirable Skills

  • ITAR management, procurement, and budget control experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools and continuous improvement strategies.
