Mechanical Fitters

DK Recruitment are seeking talented Mechanical Fitters in Plymouth, Devon. This could see you working on Warships, Submarines or within large factories supporting delivering these complex engineering projects.

Main purpose of the role:

  • Mechanical Expertise: Utilise your mechanical skills to remove, overhaul, and install a wide range of mechanical systems and equipment from fluid pumps, diesel engines through to high pressure air system and hydraulic systems.
  • Precision Engineering: Work to the highest standards using engineering drawings and technical specifications. Install and align new equipment and conduct system and equipment functional tests and surveys.
  • Technical Proficiency: Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions. Operate general workshop machinery specific to mechanical fitting.
  • If you bring technical expertise and a commitment to safety, our client can offer some of the most exciting engineering projects this country has to offer.

Essential Experience:

  • Demonstratable experience of working within high performing engineering teams focused on delivering engineering projects.
  • Demonstrate experience of working on the removal, installation, and overhaul of Marine Mechanical Equipment, focusing on propulsion equipment, auxiliary systems, and power generation equipment.

Desirable Experience:

  • Previous work in marine engineering, especially on Royal Navy ships, submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels, or large commercial ships.
  • Ideally you will have worked in the marine engineering industry with experience of Royal Navy ships and submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels or large commercial ships - although other relevant experience from other engineering sectors will be considered.

Qualifications (at least one required):

  • Indentured Apprenticeship in mechanical discipline
  • Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline
  • Level 3 Mechanical Engineering Qualification

Working Hours:

  • 35 hours per week
  • Monday to Thursday: 07:30 - 15:30 Friday: 07:30 - 12:30
  • Potential for shifts and overtime
  • 6 month contract
  • Ability to obtain and hold SC Security clearance is a requirement of this role.
