Your new firmOur Top 100 client is seeking a Professional Indemnity Claims Handler to support their fantastic national practice in Bristol. You will manage a caseload of professional indemnity claims across a range of delegated authority claims handling schemes offered to insurer clients. These claims involve defending, on behalf of insurers, a wide variety of professionals including accountants, architects, engineers, solicitors, IFAs and surveyors.Your new roleYou will be defending claims both with and without the assistance of panel solicitors, depending on the value and complexity of the claim. You will be actively involved in dealing with claims from initial notification through to settlement; successful rebuttal; or until the matter falls outside of the parameters of the claims handling scheme. You will be reviewing new claims and assessing liability and quantum, as well as a preliminary assessment of coverage. Your role will also involve dealing directly with clients, assisting them in responding to claims by drafting letters for them to send, approving correspondence, instructing experts and where appropriate, conducting settlement negotiations on behalf of the client. You will also be involved in business development and marketing with the qualified fee earners.What you'll need to succeedYou will have previous experience of handling professional indemnity claims and handling (pre-litigation) aspects of a file, have excellent communication skills both written and verbal and have a confident, assertive yet friendly telephone manner.
