The Company: We are working with a leading Insurance Law Firm in the Bristol area that offers a fantastic opportunity for a Claims Handler. This business supports qualifications and career progression, providing a friendly and close-knit yet professional environment.

The Role: This position is an excellent opportunity for someone to familiarise themselves with the claims processes, claims authority limits, and gain qualifications.

You will manage a caseload of professional indemnity claims, working directly with customers, insurance brokers, and insured professionals, ensuring claims are handled from start to finish in an efficient manner. Working within your authority limits, you will settle claims and manage all parties to the best of your ability, providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

Review and investigate cover, assist insured professionals, and respond to claims
Negotiate settlement of claims within delegated authority levels
Manage a caseload proactively to avoid unnecessary litigation and ensure effective resolution
Maintain the completeness, accuracy, and integrity of data on the electronic case management system
Support monthly and ad hoc reporting to insurer clients
Ensure a consistent approach to client claims and implementation of insurers' reserving policies
Identify trends and escalate risk information to the Head of Claims and Insurers where appropriate
Take ownership of self-development and stay up-to-date with changes in the profession

The Required Skills:

A strong grounding in claims, including technical knowledge and experience
Experience in the insurance or legal sector in a similar claims environment; professional indemnity experience preferred
Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
Good eye for detail, numerically and analytically inclined
Ability to build internal relationships and deliver excellent client service
