Development Underwriter - Professional Indemnity (Southern Region)

South East England

Negotiable Salary + Excellent Benefits incl. Car Allowance

We are currently looking for a Development Professional Indemnity Underwriter on behalf of our client, a highly regarded commercial insurance provider operating in the Lloyd's and Company markets.

The role will predominantly focus on driving new business development and servicing the company's UK South Regional broker partners, whilst also working within and as part of a wider UK Regional Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review applications and financial requirements for risks, and determine the acceptability of each risk.
  • Define appropriate pricing based on financial and competitive analysis.
  • Prepare quotations and answer questions from Brokers, policyholders or other external contacts, escalating issues to management as needed.
  • Negotiate with Brokers to achieve positive and profitable outcomes, as well as notifying them of any adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, underwriting requirements, status and declinations.
  • Market products and services throughout the brokerage community and make field visits.
  • Develop and maintain Broker relationships.

Key Requirements

  • Previous Professional Indemnity experience in either an Underwriting or Broking capacity.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Professional Indemnity Market and Brokers.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
