Development Underwriter - Bristol

We are working with a dynamic and hugely successful Insurer who are looking to add to their team in Bristol.

If you're an experienced Commercial Underwriter with experience in Professional Risks or Property and Casualty or all three, then this presents a great opportunity.

Their new offices is a short walk to Bristol Temple Meads Train Station which should make the morning commute less of a chore...

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing a panel of key brokers and working with them to win and retain business to support them hitting their business targets. 
  • Identify new business opportunities and build an effective pipeline of opportunity for the year. 
  • Operate within your underwriting authority working closely with senior stakeholders across the UK business.
  • Work as a team to deliver exceptional service to customers.
  • Comfortable trading face to face with intermediaries or clients.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Knowledge of underwriting - preferably in a Professional Indemnity, Property & Casualty
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. Ability to effectively interact with internal and external business partners at all levels.
  • Capacity to work independently and effectively manage workload and diary.
  • Strong ability to identify, analyse and solve problems as well as to learn rapidly, adapt quickly to change, and manage and prioritise multiple opportunities.
  • Skilled in exercising independent judgment and making critical business decisions effectively.
