HFG are currently recruiting for a leading Lloyd's MGA who are seeking a Development Underwriter to join their growing team.

My client is looking to expand in the South West region and needs someone with 3/4+ years Underwriting experience in the commercial combined space, in the SME to Mid Market region. The ideal candidate will come from another MGA/MGU background.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate collaboratively with key brokers in the region and build positive relationships to increase the flow of new business activity.
  • Reviewing and underwriting of new business quotations across all products within our underwriting appetite including any queries within the SLAs of the business.
  • Undertake Broker Visits and Underwriting Surgeries at Broker offices to increase brand awareness and establish contacts.
  • Be an Escalation point for Key Brokers.
  • Liaise and establish good working relations with the Technical Underwriting Team and key stakeholders.
  • Regular communication with the Business Development Managers and Regional Directors to develop and maintain broker relationships and strategic planning.
  • Act as a referral point for underwriters within the wider team.
  • Work closely and effectively with the underwriting team to ensure that all work is completed within SLA's and maintain broker relationships by offering a high level of customer service.
  • Operate in accordance with the Underwriting License provided, utilise the Underwriting Guide and collaborate with senior colleagues.
  • Take initiative, within the context of the role, to improve work processes and promote overall corporate goals.
  • Home Based with occasional visits to London Office when necessary.
