Purpose of role:

Our client is looking for someone to join the commercial lines team who is highly collaborative & good at establishing and maintaining relationships with brokers and other internal stakeholders. You should have a strong customer service ethos and be continuously and proactively looking to improve the quality of service provided to all customers.

Key responsibilities:

  • You can expect your role in Commercial Lines to vary greatly day-to-day. Here's a taster of some of the work you'll be getting involved in.
  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with a panel of south brokers as their nominated underwriter.
  • Support profitable development of the Mid-Market Commercial Combined & Real Estate accounts.
  • Prospect and actively contribute to the growth targets of the team optimising sales and retention.
  • Take ownership of large complex cases and work proactively with the broker to negotiate the right outcome.
  • Develop and support our clients teams' commercial lines account by engaging and encouraging relationships with regional brokers.
  • Maintain an accurate audit trail using internal systems, practices, and procedures.
  • Underwrite within our client's strategy and authority limits and refer all cases outside of strategy or individual limits.
  • Maintain and endeavour to exceed agreed service levels, to both internal and external customers.
  • Be a strong referral point for your team, providing technical assistance and guidance to colleagues.

Experience:

  • A confident decision maker who brings a strong and decisive approach to underwrite commercial risks.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to positively influence key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate ability to negotiate and influence through use of effective trading skills.
  • Willingly provides help and support to others and has the ability to work co-operatively.
  • Proactive, innovative and positive with the ability to take the lead.
  • Experience in underwriting and trading mid-market Commercial Combined products.
  • A detailed knowledge of the South West broker market.
  • Minimum Dip CII or progressing towards, is preferred.
