Salary: £65-75,000 DOE.

We are seeking to recruit an experienced Solicitor, Associate or Legal Executive (2-5 years PQE), to join our client's busy and highly regarded Construction team. The successful candidate will report directly to the Partners, together with one of their Senior Associates, and play an integral part in a variety of matters, with a focus on non-contentious construction and infrastructure work.

Our client's Construction team works on a wide range of international, national, and regional matters for private and public sector clients across multiple sectors, including housing, retail, transport, waste, energy, and renewables. Our client's clients range from private individuals, owner developers, start-ups, and SMEs to local authorities, national contractors, funding institutions, and large multinationals. Our client takes pride in working with prestigious clients which include household names and listed companies.

The typical workload for this role will include construction and infrastructure-related contract work across:

  • residential and commercial development,
  • renewable energy projects,
  • urban regeneration schemes,
  • financing arrangements,
  • joint ventures,
  • operation/maintenance/service contracts,
  • and facilities management.

The successful candidate:

  • will have a good level of experience advising on construction transactions, including risk reviews, drafting, and negotiating terms.
  • will be enthusiastic to expand their skills and knowledge, as our client values the ability to develop their people.
  • will be an excellent communicator with proven technical and organisational skills and a cooperative team player.
  • will be accustomed to providing accessible, commercially-focused, and pragmatic advice to clients and working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • will have a firm grounding in transactional non-contentious practise within a construction and/or infrastructure environment.
  • will have experience in commonly used contract forms such as the NEC, JCT, FIDIC, as well as professional appointments and ancillary construction documentation.
  • will ideally have experience in drafting, negotiating, and/or advising on the construction aspects of land sale contracts, agreements for lease, and development agreements would be beneficial.
  • will stay-up-to-date with the latest policy and legal developments affecting the construction and engineering industry, as clients will rely on the candidate to provide this expertise.
  • will need to demonstrate their ability to build strong and lasting relationships with clients and show a genuine commitment to understanding and meeting their business needs.
