About Our Client:

A Court of Protection Solicitor is sought to join a well-established and modern law firm with over 30 years of experience. This firm is renowned for excellence in providing a comprehensive range of legal services to businesses and individuals.

With offices in the South West, Midlands and London, our client offers a national reputation for strength and depth in the legal industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide litigation support, including contentious deputyship work, in collaboration with senior members of the Court of Protection department.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of clients' needs and act promptly, proactively, and efficiently in all client matters.
  • Manage Property and Affairs Deputyships, working with brain-injured and vulnerable clients.
  • Handle Trust management, assisting with tax affairs, and preparing accounts.
  • Draught Personal Injury Trusts, Statutory Wills, Welfare Deputyship applications, and other associated applications to the Court of Protection.
  • Maintain day-to-day contact with clients, attending to their individual lifestyle requirements and ensuring accurate records and payments.
  • Delegate and supervise tasks to paralegals and trainees when appropriate.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the law and fulfil continuing professional development requirements.

Essential (Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience):

  • Qualified Solicitor registered with the SRA or FCILEx qualified Legal Executive within Court of Protection and Clinical Negligence
  • Extensive experience in Court of Protection law and practise.
  • Self-organised and proactive, demonstrating problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Confidentiality and the ability to adapt to changing operational requirements.
  • Proficiency in Case Management and other relevant IT systems.
  • Excellent prioritisation, deadline management, and ability to work under pressure.

Desirable (Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience):

  • Previous experience in contentious Deputyship work.
  • Familiarity with brain injury cases and vulnerable clients.
  • A track record of successfully managing Property and Affairs Deputyships.
  • Knowledge of trust management, tax obligations, and accounts preparation.
