Service Care Solutions has an exciting opportunity for prosecutions lawyer to join a dynamic local authority team in Bristol. The council is seeking a skilled and motivated legal expert to join their team and provide comprehensive legal support across several key areas of law.

This role is paying £50-£55ph umbrella and can be done on a largely remote basis (bar the need to attend the office once or twice a month for committee meetings/court). It is a five-month rolling assignment.

Key Responsibilities Of The Prosecutions Lawyer Role:

  • Handle a mixed caseload of prosecution work. This will relate to: trading standards and consumer protection law; Housing Act prosecutions and environmental health prosecution work.
  • Deal with criminal case preparation/litigation/procedure
  • Regulatory advice work - general local authority experience in this regard but emphasis on Private Housing work
  • Licensing Act 2003 - advice/committee work/appeals

The Person:

  • Proven experience in prosecution work, particularly in trading standards, consumer protection law, Housing Act prosecutions, and environmental health.
  • This role is open to qualified and non-qualified candidates with relevant experience
  • Expertise in Magistrates Court trials and appeals, with strong advocacy skills.
  • A willingness to travel to Bristol once or twice a month to attend Court and committee meetings.
