Transport manager  

Flowervision are a flower/florist trade only wholesaler that operates a multiple vehicle delivery operation covering the southwest of the UK as well as South Wales. We pride ourselves as a company on the efficient, forward-moving, high standard of service to our customers from the Auction in Holland to their door. We are currently seeking a transport manager to join our team to oversee the day-to-day operations of our fleet and delivery operation. 

The Transport Manager will be responsible for the daily organizing, planning and maintenance of the delivery operation. The role requires strong communication, good organizational skills and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment. You will be required to build a close relationship with multiple departments within the company along with your team of drivers, as well as developing a good level of communication with the customers to ensure deliveries are smooth, efficient and successful. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Plan, organize, and manage the daily workload of staff to ensure that the transportation and delivery of goods is in a manner consistent with organizational requirements. 
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and compliance with regulations in conjunction with office personnel. 
  • Work with senior management to provide an efficient and clear working system, with a professional approach. 
  • Uphold and implement company core values. 
  • Attend meetings, as required, to meet the demands of the business and customers with other senior managers. 
  • Liaise with customers to assist with any requirements or needs to help deliver the product safely and efficiently. 

Staff Management: 

  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff daily. 
  • Monitor and Conduct staff performance and give feedback and evaluations. 
  • Ensure staff are aware and follow company policies. 
  • Manage staff hours and workload. 
  • Create a positive environment. 
  • Manage staff holiday to ensure the department has the required members of staff to meet company operational requirements. 

Customer Service: 

  • Address and resolve transportation issues and customer complaints. 
  • Maintain a good relationship with customers. 
  • Manage and ensure timely delivery of goods. 

Skills: 

  • Good organizational and planning skills. 
  • Excellent communication and man management skills. 
  • Ability to be able to make decisions in a fast-paced high-pressured environment. 
  • IT skills required but not essential as full training will be provided.  
  • Knowledge of UK safety regulations. 
  • Logical mindset that can remain calm under pressure but work to tight deadlines. 

Working Conditions: 

  • Work is performed in a warehouse environment, with occasional travel to customers and other locations to assist in collecting information to aid the efficiency of the delivery process. 
  • The role will require working outside of regular hours to fit in with business requirements at key times throughout the year. This will include three key events, Valentines, Mother’s Day and Christmas, with weekends and occasional days being required. 

Please note: You need to be based in the Bristol area

Renumeration 

The company offers employees 29 days holiday inc bank holidays, company pension scheme, performance-related bonuses throughout the year and company sick pay. 

Core hours would be: 00:30 – 08:30 Tuesday to Saturday, however the nature of the job and varying trade will provide a degree of flexibility across the calendar year.
